History of Jim Corbett National Park

Jim Corbett National Park, whose original name was Hailey National Park back in the days when it was established, dated back in the 20th century (1907). The facility has been renamed twice since then. It was called Ramganga National Park from 1954 to 1955. Then finally in 1955, the park got its title Jim Corbett Nation Park which is named after a sportsman/author/journalist/writer Jim Corbet primarily because of his massive contribution towards wildlife and nature.

This facility was India’s first national park with a goal to conserve wildlife, especially receding species of Fauna like endangered Tigers. Which thankfully had a great impact on wildlife in today’s world.

Wildlife & Tiger Conservation at Jim Corbett National Park

Once, there was a massive need to conserve the quick receding of the Tiger species and wildlife in general. Thus, back in 1994, a project was launched by the Ministry of Environment for the same issue which was called “Project Tiger”. It had the back support of this organisation called World Wildlife Fund. Along with this, the International Tiger Project (a non-profitable organisation) also contributed for the same agenda. Since then, the slow yet steady actions therefore had such a really good impact on wildlife conservation. It will be safe to say the project became successful because till date, Indian has been a home for more than 3,700 wild tigers which is among the 75% of total population of wild tigers of the entire globe.

And it is pretty clear from the park’s name which is called Corbett Tiger Reserve of how the project helped toward the conservation of wildlife.
